Hey folks. I've been in the area for a few months now, trying to settle in, and I thought I'd step in and introduce myself. My RL name's Matt, but most folks in fandom know me as Cutter or Badjah, (sometimes El Badjah or Da Badjah depending on the bloat in the name database).
I've been in the fandom for over 15 years now. I've published and distributed comics, organized a con in Orlando, and staff at a few cons (FWA, MFM). I keep a FA page up, but I've not had a lot of time to work on art lately. I'm working on relaunching my old pulp comic (Milikardo Knights), and I'm also working on a new webcomic project.
I'm living in Cary these days--moved up from Orlando in August. I'd like to try and organize a periodic meetup in the area and try to do some community building. Trying to meet a few furs in the area to hang out with.
Looking forward to meeting people in the area!

I have a desperate plea here for furs in the Carolinas, but if anyone in the Athens or Atlanta area hears me, I think I can drive that far too.
There is a little 30 pound, unspayed female Jack Russel Terrier/Beagle mix at my home. We found her on 11/28/2009 and have tried desperately to locate her owners. We've placed newspaper ads, put up Found Dog signs in the local neighborhoods, she's on Fido Finder, asked at local vet offices, she had a card at Petsmart for a time, and she's also listed as 'Found' on the Gaston County Animal Control website. At this late date, I believe she has been dumped. This wonderful little dog is largely housebroken(If she's desperate to pee she may wet a little in her initial excitement to go out), kennel trained, understands sit/lay down/wait and walks well, and loves to cuddle on furniture. She understands everything about being someone's well loved pet, but I cannot find her old home.
I cannot keep this dog. I can't. I have two dogs of my own, two cats of my own, and three reptiles. However, our county's animal shelter is well known for it's extremely high kill rate. Dogs -with tags- are held for only 72 hours before they are slated for death. Our county also kills dogs and cats in large groups through the use of a carbon monoxide gas chamber, which causes them to choke, vomit, and finally suffocate. Charlotte Humane Society can't take her until six months or more from now. I'm still attempting to contact the Rock Hill humane society.
I've prepped this dog as well as I can afford to for a better life. She has had her one year rabies tag and shot, parvo vaccine, distemper vaccine, bordetella vaccine, and canine influenza vaccine. She is also heartworm negative. She IS unspayed. She needs to go to a home that either keeps her indoors or if outdoors has a fence she can't dig under or jump over.
I am willing to buy her a starter bag of dog food and send her with my standard poodle's kennel and the mystery dog's collar, chain choke, and a leash. I am also willing to drive, if you are AT ALL interested, PLEASE email me at LittleGrayTiger AT gmail DOT com. You can also send me a message here on Livejournal, notes on FurAffinity(LittleGrayTiger), or notes on DeviantART(LittleGrayTiger).
If this situation drags on too long, I'm very afraid that I will have to take her into the vet and be put down by lethal injection. No dog deserves to be put down because there isn't a home, but I can't sacrifice my animals either. I'd also rather her be put down with me there in a gentle way than be abandoned in one of the worst animal shelters in NC to die frightened and alone.
Any questions, please ask. If you have any help(Such as knowing about open/accepting no kill shelters) within NC, SC, or GA -please- let me know. Thank you very much. I know furries tend to have good hearts and a love of animals above and beyond the average person, I'm really hoping I can find help here.
